Vegan Cheese Sauce

Updated: Feb 15, 2021

Starting this week we went Vegan, and so far it's going great! I want to share a few recipes a week with you, and this week our definite favorite was a Vegan "Cheese Sauce" that I got from a very cool Youtube Channel called Plantiful Kiki. I'm going to link to the video below because she's adorable, and has a lot of really simple, but good information about Vegan recipies, especially those based on The Starch Solution which is what we are following.

I noticed that a lot of Vegan recipes call for nutritional yeast, and I ended up ordering mine on Amazon but I'm sure you can get them at most major health food stores. I was a bit afraid to try this because I have a $20 blender from Walmart, so I was sure that I would not get the same consistency she did. Well guess what? Not only did it work but I got the same creamy texture that she did!

Also, I did the oil free version in the video, because we are not eating any fats right now. It was absolutely delicious.

No Oil Vegan Cheese Sauce

  • 3 c. White Potato

  • 1/2 c. Carrot

  • 6 tbs. Nutritional Yeast

  • 2 tsp. Garlic Powder

  • 1 tsp. Onion Powder

  • 1/2 Squeezed Lemon

I washed and chopped the potato and carrots in a big bot and boiled the crap out of them. When done, I only let them cool for a few minutes so it was still pretty hot when going into the blender. Then add the other ingredients and then about 1-1.5 cups of water from the pot, and blend on high. Store in clean sealed mason jar.
