Hunsader Farms: U Pick Strawberries
Updated: Feb 15, 2021
Today we took a trip up to Hunsader Farms to try out their U Pick Strawberry Fields. It’s about a 45 minute drive from Venice, but its well worth the drive to be transported out of the traffic filled city and out into farm country for a bit. Of course it rained last night (for the first time in forever) so the only downside today was it was a bit muddy. The fields are about a two minute drive from the main Farmers Market complex, and there were about 10 other cars out there with us. Each group of pickers had plenty of space, and there were lots of great strawberries left on the plants! At $2.50 a pound, we found it to be a great deal plus it got us out in the fresh air for a bit.
After we were done in the fields, we returned to the main area to pay ($18 for a HUGE load of berries), plus we wanted to check out the petting zoo. The Petting Zoo was $5 per person, and $1 for a cup of feed. We were pleasantly surprised with the amount of animals they had on site. In addition to the usual favorites... the had lemurs, emus, and even a kangaroo!
